In the recent One Piece chapter (chapter 1048). Luffy can be seen using Bajrang gun which is a direct reference to the Hindu Monkey god Bajrang Bali also called Hanuman. Hanuman is the son of wind god Vayu. During his childhood, Hanuman ate the Sun which is similar to Luffy eating the devil fruit Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika the sun god.
We have seen Monkey D Dragon control wind in Loguetown in epsiode no 53. So I believe it is safe to assume that just like hanuman, Luffy’s father is also the wind god.
